Tip 6 - From Terry

From Missouri comes Terry Linhardt with this great tip: Occasionally faced with a location that has an existing Coke or Pepsi machine and just wants snack service, Terry says, “I will tell my prospective customer that I will provide them with snack service, but only if they also promise to give me their soda business after 60 days if they are happy with my service. So far, every prospective customer has agreed to this arrangement.”

Many distributors take a different approach: they place their beverage machine next to a Coke or Pepsi machine right from the start, because they know from experience that the Coke or Pepsi machine will eventually be pulled out of that location, since it can’t compete with the variety and efficiency of their Refreshment Center.

Terry adds, “Most customers would rather deal with only one refreshment vendor anyway, and all are happy to learn that they will no longer be limited to ‘Coke only’ or ‘Pepsi only’ products.” All along we’ve said that locations want good service and great variety, so it’s great to pass along other distributors’ stories from ‘the real world’.
