Tip 7 - From Clay
Clay Acker of New Mexico gets right down to the basics—what
you should carry with you when you service your machines. Here’s
a partial list:
“1.) Get a hex nut driver that fits the screws that attach
the coin mechanisms to the machines.
2.) Also carry a slotted screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver
that fits the machine screws (sometimes there is not room for
the nut driver).
3.) Paper and pencil. Handiest is a 3x5 notebook that will fit
in your pocket. The notebook can be used to record the restocking
count if you do not use special forms, and if a customer has comments
or requests that a particular product be put into the machine,
you should write it down so you don’t forget.
4.) Double-stick tape to hold flavor cards in place. Not all cards
need it; sometimes only the card on the end needs it.
5.) Two-inch-wide masking tape. If you need to change the coin
mechanism on a beverage machine then the product door is going
to be in your way and will probably hit you in the head. Use masking
tape to temporarily hold the door open.”
